My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
Our Aphrodisias tour from Didim is a guided day tour to one of the most important Greek and Roman archaeological sites in Turkey, the ancient city dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite. Hotel transfers, lunch and an English-speaking guide are all included in this daily excursion.
Aphrodisias sits in a green, fertile valley of the Maeander River basin, roughly 100 miles south-east of Izmir. The city flourished from the 1st century BC to the 6th century AD, and its fame rested on the sanctuary of Aphrodite, the goddess after whom it was named. Many of its public monuments still stand today, and the combination of beauty and outstanding preservation makes it easy to picture civic life in the Graeco-Roman world as you walk among them.
What makes Aphrodisias truly special is its sculpture. Nearby marble quarries and skilled local workshops turned the city into a leading art centre, admired for the creativity and technical mastery of its sculptors. Its excavated workshop reveals more about how Roman marble sculpture was made than almost any other site, and the finds are among the finest of their kind. This daily tour includes lunch, and the return drive leaves the site in the mid-afternoon, so you are back at your hotel in Didim by early evening. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sun protection are recommended.

Aphrodisias Ancient City Programme In the morning you are collected from your hotel in Didim and travel inland in an air-conditioned vehicle to the ancient city of Aphrodisias, set in a fertile valley of the Maeander River basin. Considered one of the most significant Greek and Roman archaeological sites in Turkey, the city prospered for some seven centuries, from the 1st century BC to the 6th century AD, around its renowned sanctuary of Aphrodite, its patron goddess. With your English-speaking guide you explore the standing monuments and hear how excavations have uncovered a wealth of fine marble statues and other artefacts. Your guide also explains why Aphrodisias holds such an important place in the study of Roman sculpture: its own marble quarries and workshops made it a renowned artistic centre, and its excavated sculpture workshop, one of very few known from the Roman Empire, shows in rare detail how marble works were produced. Lunch is included during the day. Between about 15:00 and 16:00 the group sets off on the return journey, and you are dropped back at your hotel in Didim.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
