After breakfast we set out on a full-day tour of Istanbul's magnificent Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage area. We visit the elegant Blue Mosque with its cascade of domes and six minarets, walk through the historic Hippodrome Square — once the chariot-racing heart of Byzantine Constantinople — and explore the opulent Topkapi Palace, home to the Ottoman sultans for centuries. We continue to the awe-inspiring Hagia Sophia, a masterpiece spanning 1,500 years as cathedral and mosque, before losing ourselves in the colour of the Grand Bazaar, one of the world's oldest covered markets.
