My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
Mavigöl (Blue Lake) & Kümbet Plateau Tour from Trabzon
Mavigöl & Kümbet Plateau Day Tour from Trabzon
Join this fully guided daily excursion from Trabzon into the green heart of Giresun's Dereli district, where the famous Blue Lake (Mavigöl) shimmers in shades of turquoise inside Kuzalan Nature Park. This easy-paced Trabzon day trip combines waterfalls, travertines, mountain plateaus and Black Sea highland culture in one unforgettable day tour.
- Mavigöl (Blue Lake): A trio of connected lakes whose water turns a striking turquoise in summer thanks to limestone and the Göksu soda stream.
- Kuzalan Nature Park: A protected area of roughly 500 hectares, home to the world's second-largest forest-formed travertine field after Yellowstone.
- Göksu Travertines: White mineral terraces created by the Black Sea's only soda stream, known locally as the 'white stone'.
- Kuzalan Waterfall: A scenic cascade where we pause for photos where the falls meet the stream.
- Kümbet Plateau: Giresun's best-known highland, declared a tourism centre in 1991, with rich vegetation and authentic plateau culture.
- Giresun Castle: A hilltop fortress visit featuring the grave of Topal Osman.
The Blue Lake lies about 20 kilometres from the centre of Dereli and is known by locals as Sodalı Lake or Göğ Lake. Its remarkable colour comes from the Göksu Stream, the only soda stream in the Black Sea region, reacting with limestone beds — a natural spectacle best seen in the summer months. Nearby, the Kuzalan travertines stretch across some 1,800 metres of forest, formed as mineral-rich water deposits white stone over moss-covered ground.
Kümbet Plateau, around 60 kilometres from Giresun, offers a refreshing climate, crystal-clear springs and fine examples of traditional Black Sea highland life, including the Birun mountain houses. Along the route you will also encounter the Halil Rıfat Pasha Tunnel and natural mineral water sources, with a breakfast stop at Çarşıbaşı Hidden Paradise and a break in the Keşap area on the way to Giresun.
This shared day tour operates on dates when enough participants have registered. The programme may be adjusted by the agency according to weather, road conditions and the season. Guiding is provided in English where possible, with Turkish or Arabic-speaking group leaders also accompanying departures when available.

Mavigöl & Kümbet Plateau Tour Programme
Our daily Mavigöl and Kümbet Plateau tour begins at 08:00, meeting our vehicle at the office in Trabzon. Once all guests along the route have been collected, we set off towards Giresun, pausing in the Keşap area for breakfast and a comfort stop before continuing into the city. Our sightseeing starts at Giresun Castle, where we visit the grave of Topal Osman and enjoy the views from this historic hilltop site. From there we drive on towards Kuzalan Waterfall, stopping briefly at the point where the falls flow into the stream — a perfect spot for photographs. We then follow the course of the stream deeper into Kuzalan Nature Park until the famous Blue Lake appears before us. In the summer period the water glows an astonishing turquoise, coloured by limestone and the mineral-rich Göksu Stream, the Black Sea's only soda stream. Nearby you can admire the Göksu (Kuzalan) travertines, white mineral terraces formed within the forest. Our journey continues up to Kümbet Plateau, one of the most celebrated highlands of Giresun, where you have free time to soak up the fresh mountain air, traditional plateau atmosphere and scenery, with the opportunity to have lunch here. In the afternoon we begin our return drive to Trabzon, where the tour comes to an end.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
