This daily Konya tour from Ankara takes you south across the Anatolian plateau to the city where the poet and mystic Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi lived, taught and was laid to rest. With a professional English-speaking guide, round-trip road transport and a local lunch, this full-day excursion lets you see the essential landmarks of Konya without changing hotels.
The Mevlana Museum, once the lodge of the Whirling Dervishes, is the spiritual centre of this day tour. Your guide explains Sufism and Rumi's message of tolerance while you walk past illuminated manuscripts and objects linked to the order. Next door, the Selimiye Mosque was built under Sultan Selim II and shows classical Ottoman design at its finest.
After lunch the daily excursion turns to the Seljuk era, when Konya was the capital of the Sultanate of Rum. Alaeddin Mosque crowns a hill with wide views over the city, and the nearby Karatay Madrasa, now a tile museum, displays glazed tilework and Quranic calligraphy from the 13th century. Time permitting, the optional stop in Sille reveals a village shaped by both Greek and Turkish heritage.
Practical notes: the drive takes about three and a half hours each way with a comfort break. Wear comfortable shoes and modest clothing; shoulders and knees should be covered in mosques for both men and women. Vegetarian and vegan meals can be arranged on request.

Konya Mevlana & Seljuk Heritage Programme Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel in central Ankara between 07:00 and 07:30, and the coach heads south for roughly three and a half hours, with a short break on the way, reaching Konya around 11:00. The visit opens at the Mevlana Museum and Mausoleum, where Rumi rests beneath the turquoise dome; inside you learn about Sufi thought and the Whirling Dervishes and see old manuscripts, artefacts and the poet's own belongings. A few steps away you enter the Selimiye Mosque, a 16th-century Ottoman work built by Sultan Selim II. Lunch follows at a local restaurant, with a chance to taste etli ekmek and slow-cooked firin kebab; meat-free options are available if requested. In the afternoon you climb Alaeddin Hill for city views, visit the Seljuk-era Alaeddin Mosque and look at the remains of the Seljuk palace, then continue to the Karatay Madrasa, a 13th-century school that now houses a collection of tiles and calligraphy. If time allows, an optional detour leads to Sille village, home to the 4th-century Aya Eleni Church, for tea by the stream and a look at local crafts. The coach leaves Konya at about 16:30 and drops you back at your Ankara hotel around 20:30.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
