This daily Ankara city tour brings together the essential sights of the Turkish capital in one well-paced day, starting and finishing at your hotel. With a professional English-speaking guide you move from Bronze Age treasures to Roman stones, a revered mosque and the monumental resting place of the nation's founder, so the story of Anatolia unfolds in the order it actually happened.
Founded in 1921, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations traces human history in the region from the Palaeolithic Age onward and is famous for its Hittite reliefs and Phrygian finds. Above it rises Ankara Castle, a fortress whose origins are linked to the late Hittite period and which was later used by Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans. Nearby stands the Temple of Augustus, raised around 25–20 BC and celebrated for its inscriptions; in Christian times it was converted into a basilica. The neighbouring Haci Bayram Mosque is one of the city's most cherished places of worship.
After a break for lunch, the Ankara day trip continues to Anitkabir, the grand mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, who led the War of Independence and founded the secular Turkish Republic. Its colonnades, symbolic towers and museum make it the emotional heart of any daily excursion in the capital. Entrance fees, transport and hotel transfers in Ankara are included, making this day tour from Ankara an easy, rewarding introduction to the city. Wear comfortable shoes, as several stops involve walking on uneven ground.

Ankara Capital City Programme Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel in Ankara early in the morning. The first visit is the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, opened in 1921, where galleries arranged chronologically lead you from the Palaeolithic Age through the Hittite, Phrygian, Urartian and Late Hittite cultures of ancient Anatolia. From there you continue up to Ankara Castle, one of the oldest sites in the city, whose walls were used in turn by Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans; the ramparts offer a bird's-eye panorama of the capital. Next comes the Temple of Augustus, also called the Ancyranum, a Roman sanctuary dating from 25–20 BC, renowned for its inscriptions and later turned into a church. A short walk brings you to Haci Bayram Mosque, admired for its architecture and interior decoration. Time is then set aside for lunch and a rest before the drive to Anitkabir, the Mausoleum of Ataturk, where the Lion's Road, the symbolic towers, the ceremonial square and the museum explain the founding of the Republic. The day ends with a relaxed stroll through the busy Kizilay district, after which you are transferred back to your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
