This daily Ephesus and Sirince tour from Ankara turns a single day into a journey to the Aegean coast: an early domestic flight to Izmir, a fully guided walk through one of the finest Roman cities in the Mediterranean world, and an unhurried afternoon in a hillside wine village before you fly home the same evening. It is a well-paced day tour for travellers based in the capital who want to see Ephesus without adding extra nights to their itinerary.
Founded by Ionian settlers around the 10th century BC, Ephesus grew into the leading Roman city of Asia Minor. Its marble streets lead past public baths, temples and the two-storey facade of the Library of Celsus, once among the largest libraries of antiquity, while the Great Theatre could seat some 25,000 spectators. The city also holds a special place in Christian history through the visits of St Paul and St John, and it is counted among the Seven Churches of Revelation. Nearby, a lone column marks the Artemision, the vast temple to Artemis begun in the 6th century BC.
After lunch the daily excursion climbs to Sirince, a former Greek village of whitewashed houses and vineyards, famous today for its fruit wines and local crafts. Note that the domestic flights between Ankara and Izmir are not part of the package and require self check-in at the airport; the Terrace Houses at Ephesus carry a separate ticket. Wear comfortable walking shoes, as the ancient streets are uneven, and bring sun protection in the warmer months.

Ephesus & Sirince Village Programme The day begins early with a transfer from your hotel in Ankara to the airport, where you check in yourself for the short domestic flight to Izmir, roughly one hour and fifteen minutes in the air. Our local representative meets you on arrival and drives you about an hour south to Ephesus. With your English-speaking guide you walk the ancient streets past the agoras, the Odeon, the Temple of Domitian, Trajan's Fountain and the Roman baths, pause before the celebrated Library of Celsus and finish inside the Great Theatre. The tour continues to the Temple of Artemis, a celebrated Wonder of the classical world, before a local Aegean lunch. In the afternoon you visit a traditional carpet weaving centre or a leather workshop, then drive a short distance up into the hills to Sirince village for fruit wine tasting, a cup of Turkish coffee brewed on hot sand and time to browse local handicrafts. In the evening you are taken to Izmir Airport for your return flight, and on landing in Ankara our driver meets you and brings you back to your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
