From Konya
This Konya day tour explores the spiritual capital of Turkey, home of the poet and mystic Rumi and once the seat of the Anatolian Seljuk Sultanate, through its most important Islamic monuments. With hotel pickup, a professional English-speaking guide, air-conditioned transport, lunch and all entrance fees included, it is a meaningful day trip for faith travellers, history enthusiasts and anyone drawn to Sufi culture and the Whirling Dervishes.
The tour begins at the Mevlana Museum, the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Rumi and the former lodge of the Mevlevi order. You visit the Matbah, the old dervish kitchen, the tombs beneath the famous green dome, the Tilavet Chamber where the Quran was recited and chanted, and the Sema-Hane, the hall where the whirling ceremony was performed. Next door stands the Selimiye Mosque, an elegant Ottoman building begun in 1558 for the future Sultan Selim II and completed in 1567.
The day continues to green Meram, a historic countryside area of Konya, where you see the Tavusbaba Tomb of the Seljuk-era Sufi saint Seyh Tavus Mehmet El Hindi. You then explore two masterpieces of Seljuk architecture: the Karatay Madrasah, a medieval school that reflects the long tradition of free education in the Islamic world, and the 13th-century Ince Minaret Madrasah, today a museum of wood and stone carving named after its slender tiled minaret. The final visit is the Alaaddin Mosque on its hilltop, the oldest and largest mosque of the Anatolian Seljuk period in Konya, completed in 1221 under Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad.

Konya Programme You are picked up from your hotel in Konya and driven to the Mevlana Museum, the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, the Sufi mystic known as Mevlana, and the former lodge of the Mevlevi order, the Whirling Dervishes. You explore all the open sections of the complex, including the Matbah (the dervish kitchen), the tombs, the Tilavet Chamber used for Quran recitation and chanting, and the Sema-Hane, the ritual hall of the whirling ceremony. Next you visit the Selimiye Mosque right beside the museum, an Ottoman mosque started in 1558 while Selim II was still a prince and finished in 1567, shortly after he became sultan. The tour then heads out to Meram, a leafy district rich in historic monuments, to see the Tavusbaba Tomb of Seyh Tavus Mehmet El Hindi, a Sufi saint of the Seljuk era. Lunch is served during the day. In the afternoon you visit the Karatay Madrasah, an important Seljuk school of the kind that offered free education until madrasahs were abolished in 1924, and the 13th-century Ince Minaret Madrasah, now a museum of wood and stone carving named after its once-tall, slender tiled minaret. The last stop is the Alaaddin Mosque on the hill in the city centre, begun under Sultan Rukneddin Mesud I, continued under Kilic Arslan II and completed in 1221 under Alaeddin Keykubad. Afterwards you are dropped back at your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
