This daily Konya tour to the Mevlana Museum and Tinaztepe Cave pairs the spiritual heart of the city with one of the most striking underground landscapes of Central Anatolia. Departing from Konya with hotel pickup, the daily excursion moves from the resting place of Rumi to a cavern shaped over centuries by flowing water, with a guided programme and lunch along the way.
The Mevlana Museum is the tomb of the 13th-century Sufi mystic and poet Mevlana, known worldwide as Rumi. For centuries the complex served as the tekke of the Mevlevi order, the community famous for the whirling sema ceremony. Your guide leads you through the open sections: the Matbah, where dervish novices were trained in the kitchen, the tomb chamber, the Tilavet room once used for Quran recitation, and the Sema-Hane where the ritual dance took place. Next door stands the Selimiye Mosque, commissioned by Sultan Selim II; work started in 1558 while he was still a prince and was finished in 1567, soon after he took the throne.
After lunch the Konya day trip heads southwest towards Seydisehir. Tinaztepe Cave lies near Kecili Village, about 35 km from the town and close to the Seydisehir-Manavgat road. The cave stretches for roughly 1,580 metres and, apart from a descent of around 30 metres at the entrance, it runs almost level, which makes it comfortable to explore. Water seeping through the ceiling and walls has created travertine terraces, stalactites and stalagmites, while the large hall at the far end holds an underground lake. The physical level is easy, but comfortable shoes with good grip are recommended inside the cave. It is a rewarding day tour from Konya for travellers who want both culture and nature in a single outing.

Mevlana Museum & Tinaztepe Cave Programme Your day begins with pickup from your hotel in Konya or from Konya Airport, followed by a short drive into the city centre. The first stop is the Mevlana Museum, where Rumi rests in what was once the lodge of the Mevlevi dervishes. With your guide you walk through all the sections open to visitors, including the Matbah kitchen, the tombs, the Tilavet chamber used for Quran recitation and the Sema-Hane hall where the whirling ceremony was performed. Just next to the museum you then visit the Selimiye Mosque, an Ottoman building begun under the future Sultan Selim II in 1558 and completed in 1567. Lunch is served at an authentic local restaurant. In the afternoon the tour continues southwest to Tinaztepe Cave near Kecili Village, about 35 km from Seydisehir. After a short descent at the entrance you follow an almost level passage lined with travertines, stalactites and stalagmites, reaching the spacious end hall with its underground lake. When the visit is over you are driven back and dropped off at your hotel, bringing this full day of culture and nature to a close.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
