This daily Mevlana Museum and Kilistra tour from Konya links the city's great Sufi shrine with a quiet Hellenistic and Roman settlement in the countryside, offering two very different chapters of Anatolian history in one relaxed day. Hotel pickup, an English-speaking guide, lunch in a traditional restaurant and entrance fees are all arranged for you, so this daily Konya tour runs smoothly from start to finish.
The Mevlana Museum is where Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, the Sufi mystic remembered as Mevlana, is buried, and it served as the tekke of the Whirling Dervishes. During this day tour you see all of its open sections, from the Matbah where dervishes began their training to the Tilavet Chamber for Quran recitation and the Sema-Hane, the hall of the whirling ceremony. Next door, the Selimiye Mosque was commissioned by Sultan Selim II: work started in 1558 while he was a prince and finished in 1567, shortly after his accession.
The second half of this daily excursion heads into the countryside to Kilistra. The settlement was first established in the Hellenistic and Roman periods, between the 2nd century BC and the 3rd century AD, and lies on the historic King's Road. St Paul, whose journeys are told in the Bible, is said to have stayed here for a while, which gives the site a special place on early Christian routes.
Practical notes: the programme suits all ages with easy walking. Comfortable shoes are useful at Kilistra, and modest dress is needed in the mosque and museum.

Mevlana Museum & Kilistra Programme After pickup from your hotel, you drive to the centre of Konya and the Mevlana Museum, resting place of Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, the Sufi mystic known as Mevlana, and once the lodge of the Mevlevi order of Whirling Dervishes. With your guide you visit every section open to the public: the Matbah kitchen, the tombs, the Tilavet Chamber where the Quran was recited and chanted, and the Sema-Hane, the ritual hall of the whirling ceremony. The next stop is the Selimiye Mosque beside the museum, an Ottoman work commissioned by Sultan Selim II, started in 1558 and completed in 1567. Lunch is then served in an authentic local restaurant. In the afternoon you take a panoramic drive through Meram, the leafy quarter on the edge of the city, before heading out to Kilistra. Founded in the Hellenistic and Roman era, between the 2nd century BC and the 3rd century AD, this settlement stands on the ancient King's Road, and tradition holds that St Paul lived here for a time. After exploring the site, you are driven back and dropped off at your hotel in Konya or at Konya Airport.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
