From Konya
Step into the spiritual and historical heart of central Anatolia on this daily classical Konya city tour, a full-day private excursion that brings together the mysticism of Rumi, the glory of the Seljuk Empire and the dawn of civilisation itself. With a morning hotel pickup in Konya and a professional English-speaking guide at your side, this Konya day tour visits the city's most important landmarks — the Mevlana Museum, the Karatay Madrasah, the Alaeddin Mosque and the Archaeological Museum — before heading out to the astonishing Neolithic site of Catalhoyuk. It is the perfect daily excursion from Konya for travellers who want to understand why this quiet, dignified city has drawn pilgrims and scholars for eight centuries.
Konya was the capital of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum and remains Turkey's most devout and tradition-rich city. At its soul stands the Mevlana Museum, the former lodge of the Mevlevi order, where the poet and philosopher Jalal ad-Din Rumi is buried beneath a famous turquoise dome; inside you explore the Matbah kitchen where dervishes once trained, the tombs of Rumi and his family, and the Sema-Hane hall where the whirling ceremony is performed. Nearby, the Karatay Madrasah dazzles with the finest surviving Seljuk tilework in Anatolia, while the 13th-century Alaeddin Mosque on Alaeddin Hill — built with 42 recycled Roman and Byzantine columns — holds the tombs of the Seljuk sultans themselves.
The tour then travels back far beyond the Seljuks to Catalhoyuk, roughly an hour south of the city, a Neolithic settlement dating back some 9,000 years. Recognised by UNESCO as one of humanity's earliest urban experiments, its tightly packed mud-brick houses, wall paintings and burial customs rewrote what we know about the birth of settled life, farming and art. Back in the centre, the Konya Archaeological Museum rounds off the story with finds from the Bronze Age through to Byzantium. Guided throughout in English and travelling in a comfortable air-conditioned private vehicle, this classical Konya city tour is an unforgettable day trip through nine millennia of Anatolian history. (Please note the Karatay and Archaeological museums are closed on Mondays.)

Classical Konya City Tour Programme Your full-day private Konya tour begins with a hotel pickup between 08:30 and 09:30, where your English-speaking guide meets you for a day spanning nine thousand years of history. You start at the Mevlana Museum, the turquoise-domed mausoleum and former Mevlevi lodge of the 13th-century mystic Rumi, exploring the Matbah (kitchen) where dervishes trained, the tombs, the Tilavet Chamber and the Sema-Hane ritual hall where the whirling ceremony takes place. From there you visit the Karatay Madrasah, a Seljuk theological college founded in 1251 and now a tile museum displaying some of the finest blue-and-white Seljuk ceramics in Anatolia. Next you climb Alaeddin Hill to the Alaeddin Mosque, Konya's oldest mosque, built in the 13th century with 42 recycled ancient columns, a carved wooden ceiling and the tombs of the Seljuk sultans. After free time for lunch (at your own expense, with guide recommendations), the afternoon travels about an hour south to Catalhoyuk, the 9,000-year-old Neolithic settlement and UNESCO World Heritage Site that is one of the world's earliest towns, where you see the excavated mud-brick dwellings and wall paintings. Returning to the city, you visit the Archaeological Museum with its artefacts from the Bronze Age to the Byzantine period, before being transferred back to your hotel. (Note: the Karatay and Archaeological museums are closed on Mondays.)

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
