Journey deep into the Anatolian heartland and along the Black Sea on an eleven-day heritage tour arranged in-house by Inca Tour, a TURSAB-licensed Turkish operator and guided throughout in English. From the capital Ankara you travel to the Hittite country around Hattusa, the Ottoman valley town of Amasya, the Black Sea ports of Samsun and Sinop, UNESCO-listed Safranbolu, the lakes of Yedigoller and Abant, artistic Eskisehir, the Sufi city of Konya, the vast Salt Lake and the Phrygian capital of Gordion.
The tour begins in Ankara, capital of the Republic, where you visit Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Ataturk, the superb Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and the old castle district. You travel east to Hattusa, the great capital of the Hittite Empire, to see the Lion Gate, the King's Gate and the sacred rock sanctuary of Yazilikaya, before descending to Amasya in its narrow valley on the Yesilirmak river, famous for its Ottoman timber mansions and the cliff-cut tombs of the Pontic kings. Reaching the Black Sea you pass through Samsun, where Ataturk launched the War of Independence, and continue to Sinop, the northernmost point of Turkey, with its ancient fortress and evocative historical prison.
Turning inland you arrive in Safranbolu, a UNESCO World Heritage town of red-roofed mansions, cobbled lanes and saffron-scented bazaars, then drive through the Yedigoller (Seven Lakes) National Park and along the shores of Lake Abant, pausing in the timber village of Mudurnu. In Eskisehir you explore the colourful Odunpazari district and the Porsuk river, then continue to Konya, city of the poet Rumi, to visit the Mevlana Museum of the whirling dervishes. The journey closes across the dazzling white Salt Lake (Tuz Golu) and the silver-working town of Beypazari to Gordion, Phrygian capital of King Midas and the legendary Gordian Knot, before returning to Ankara. All prices are per person.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
