The Dalyan tour from Koycegiz is a full day tour that combines the best-known sights of the Dalyan delta in one easy outing. This daily excursion takes you by boat across Koycegiz Lake to the mud baths, continues with a riverside lunch and then follows the Dalyan River past the ancient rock tombs to Iztuzu Beach, the nesting ground of loggerhead sea turtles.
Dalyan lies on the river that connects Koycegiz Lake with the Mediterranean, inside a protected landscape of wetlands, reed beds and forested hills. Its most famous landmark is the group of Lycian-style rock tombs cut into the cliff face above the river; these temple-fronted tombs belonged to the ancient city of Kaunos and date back more than two thousand years. The mud baths on the lake shore are fed by mineral-rich thermal springs, and covering yourself in mud, letting it dry in the sun and rinsing off in the warm pools is a ritual visitors have enjoyed for generations. The river also has a cinematic past, as scenes of the classic film The African Queen were shot along its channels.
Iztuzu Beach is a long sandbar separating the delta from the sea, with fresh water on one side and salt water on the other. It is one of the key nesting sites of the Caretta caretta sea turtle in Turkey, so parts of the beach are protected and closed at night during the breeding season. As a Dalyan day trip from Koycegiz, this daily tour is ideal for first-time visitors who want nature, history and beach time in a single day.
Practical notes: hotel pickup, return transfer and lunch are included. Bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and clothes you do not mind getting muddy.

Dalyan Mud Baths & Iztuzu Beach Programme The day begins with pickup from your hotel in Koycegiz and a drive of about 30 minutes towards Dalyan. From there a river boat carries you across beautiful Koycegiz Lake to the famous mud baths, where you can coat yourself in thermal mud, let it dry in the sun and then relax in the warm mineral pools that many visitors find soothing. Around 12:15 the group stops for about an hour at a restaurant on the riverbank for lunch. In the afternoon the boat continues down the Dalyan River through the reed beds of the delta, giving you views of the Lycian rock tombs carved high into the cliffs and passing the stretch of river where scenes from The African Queen were filmed. The cruise ends at Iztuzu Beach, a long sandy strip between the river and the sea where loggerhead turtles come ashore to nest; here you have time to swim and relax. Once you leave the boat, the coach drives you back to your hotel, arriving at approximately 17:00.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
