This daily Chios Island tour from Cesme takes you across the narrow strait to the Greek island known in Turkish as Sakız, only a short ferry crossing from the Aegean coast of Turkey. It is an easy daily excursion for travellers who want to add a second country to their holiday and see traditional island life, historic landmarks and quiet harbours in a single day.
The Chios Island Tour is also arranged for visitors coming over from Chios for the day. Catch the early ferry to Çeşme (from Chios the ferry takes 20 minutes) and you will be back on the island the same evening. Our team welcomes you at the Çeşme ferry port and makes sure the day ends in time for your return crossing. For longer itineraries we check the ferry timetable first and confirm that the full programme fits your day. Please bring your passport and check the Turkish entry requirements for your nationality before travelling.
Chios has long been tied to the story of Homer, and Daskalopetra is the place where local tradition says he gathered his students. The rock-cut seat stands above the sea at Vrondados, a settlement on the northern edge of Chios town known for its neat stone architecture. Further north, Kardamyla grew wealthy through shipping, and its small port of Marmaro is a pleasant spot to sit with a coffee and watch the fishing boats. The route then continues to Lagada, where olive trees run down to the water and tavernas serve fresh seafood, giving you the chance to have lunch by the sea before heading back to the port.
This day tour is guided by Turkish and Greek-speaking guides, and the return ferry plus the entrance fees listed in the programme are covered. Lunch and other personal spending are paid locally. Please note that a valid Schengen visa is required to enter Greece, and passport control takes place both in Cesme and on Chios, so bring your passport. As a Chios day trip from Cesme it suits anyone curious about the shared history of the two shores of the Aegean.

Chios Island Programme The day begins at Cesme Ulusoy Port, where check-in and passport formalities open at 9:00 AM. The ferry leaves at 9:30 AM and reaches Chios after a crossing of about 40 minutes. Once you have cleared Greek passport control at Chios Port, you join a coach for a scenic drive that starts in Vrondados, a district admired for its traditional island houses. Here you stop at Daskalopetra, the so-called Teacher's Rock, an ancient monument that local tradition links to Homer and his pupils. The route then heads north along the coast to Kardamyla, a historic village whose fortunes were built on the sea, and you pause at its little harbour of Marmaro for a relaxed coffee break. Next comes Lagada, a pretty coastal village surrounded by olive groves and known for its seafood tavernas, where there is time for lunch by the water (at your own expense). In the afternoon you return to Chios town to board the ferry back to Cesme, where the tour comes to an end.
Cesme → Chios → Cesme Ferry → Daskalopetra → Lagada

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
