This daily Iasos and Euromos tour from Cesme heads south into ancient Caria to visit two archaeological sites that many visitors to the Aegean never see. In one full day tour you explore the seaside ruins of Iasos with its open-air Fish Market Museum and the strikingly complete Temple of Zeus Lepsynos at Euromos.
Guests staying on Chios can enjoy the Iasos & Euromos Tour as a day trip from the Greek islands to Turkey — from Chios the ferry takes 20 minutes, so the excursion can be planned between the morning and evening sailings. Pickup is at the Çeşme ferry terminal, and the tour is timed so you can catch the return ferry comfortably. For longer itineraries we check the ferry timetable first and confirm that the full programme fits your day. Please bring your passport and check the Turkish entry requirements for your nationality before travelling.
Iasos sits beside the sea and, according to tradition, was founded by colonists from Argos. Your guide shows you the agora, the temples of Artemis and Zeus Megistos and the theatre, pointing out the purple-veined marble used widely across the town. Iasos was one of the most important fish markets of the ancient world, and its old market building was reused as a bathhouse under the Menteshe, one of the earliest Turkish beyliks of Anatolia. Today it serves as an open-air museum.
Euromos, near the village of Ayakli, is far less visited. Its centrepiece is the Temple of Zeus Lepsynos, whose present structure dates from the Roman era after an earlier sanctuary was destroyed. Many of its columns still stand, several bearing inscriptions from donors, including the physician Menekrates and his daughter Tryphania.
The guided daily excursion includes hotel transfers from and back to Cesme and entrance fees for the sites. Lunch is not included. Expect a moderate amount of walking on uneven ground, so comfortable shoes and sun protection are recommended.

Iasos & Euromos Programme Following pickup from your hotel in Cesme, you travel south towards the ancient region of Caria. The first stop is Iasos, a city said to have been founded by settlers from Argos. Walking with your English-speaking guide, you discover the agora, the Temple of Artemis, the Temple of Zeus Megistos and the theatre, and you will notice how often the local purple-veined marble appears in the city's architecture. A highlight is the former fish market, once among the most important in antiquity, which the Menteshe beylik later adapted into a bathhouse and which now forms an open-air museum. From Iasos the tour continues to the quieter site of Euromos near Ayakli village. Here the Temple of Zeus Lepsynos, rebuilt in Roman times after the original sanctuary was destroyed, still rises with many of its columns intact, and you can read about the donors recorded on them, including the physician Menekrates and his daughter Tryphania. Lunch is not part of the package and can be purchased at your own expense during the day. After the visit to Euromos the group returns north, and you are dropped off at your hotel in Cesme.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
