This daily Cappadocia valleys hiking tour is a guided walking day tour that leaves the busy viewpoints behind and follows the footpaths that thread between the fairy chimneys of central Anatolia. Starting from Cappadocia, with hotel pick-up and drop-off included, this daily excursion links several of the region's best-loved valleys and the landmarks that rise above them.
Cappadocia's unusual scenery began millions of years ago, when nearby volcanoes buried the plateau under ash and lava. Rain, wind and frost later carved that soft tuff into cones, pillars and canyons. Pigeon Valley takes its name from the small niches cut into the rock, where farmers once collected pigeon droppings to fertilise vineyards and orchards. Love Valley is famous for its slender, tall rock columns, while Zemi Valley and Honey Valley hold old, massive fairy chimneys and hidden corners well away from the coach routes. Uzengi Valley, running from Ortahisar, is one of the most lush and relaxed walks in the area.
The Goreme Open-Air Museum preserves a cluster of chapels and refectories carved by early Christian communities, many decorated with Byzantine frescoes, and it is listed by UNESCO as part of Goreme National Park. This Cappadocia day trip suits travellers with reasonable fitness: the walking is mostly moderate but the overall pace is active, so wear sturdy shoes, bring a hat and water, and note that lunch is not included, so plan for snacks or a meal at your own expense.

Cappadocia Valleys Walking Programme The day starts with a pick-up from your hotel in Cappadocia and a short drive to the trailheads in an air-conditioned, non-smoking vehicle. Your English-speaking guide leads the walk along the classic valley routes of the Goreme area. The Pigeon Valley trail runs about 4 km from Uchisar, below its rock castle, down towards Goreme, through a green gorge lined with dovecotes cut into the fairy chimneys. Love Valley follows as a short, easy stroll of around 2 km among some of the tallest rock pillars in the region on the way to the Goreme Open-Air Museum, where you visit the rock-cut churches and their frescoes. The walking programme also covers Zemi Valley, a moderate 5 km route between Goreme and Uchisar through wind-shaped volcanic rock, Honey Valley between the Goreme-Cavusin road and old Uchisar with its huge old fairy chimneys, and the leafy Uzengi Valley stretching from Ortahisar towards the Urgup-Mustafapasa road. Lunch is not part of the programme, so bring snacks or buy food along the way. The tour ends with a transfer back to your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
