This Pamukkale day tour from Kemer takes you inland from the Antalya coast to the white travertine terraces known as the Cotton Castle, one of the best-known natural wonders in Turkey, and to the ancient spa city of Hierapolis above them.
Pamukkale is a UNESCO World Heritage site where mineral-rich thermal water has built petrified waterfalls, shallow pools and terraced basins on a cliff almost 200 metres high. Hierapolis, an open-air museum founded by the Attalid kings of Pergamon, holds the ruins of baths, temples and other Greek monuments. During the visit you walk past one of the largest ancient necropolises in Anatolia, with more than 1,200 sarcophagi, then see the Great Theatre, the Tomb of St. Philip, the Roman Baths, the gymnasium used as a museum and the Temple of Apollo.
Lunch is included, and the ancient thermal pool known as Cleopatra Pool can be visited for an extra fee if you wish to swim among the sunken columns. After the sightseeing there is free time to browse Turkish crafts such as leather, textiles, onyx, jewellery and Turkish delight. Offered as a daily excursion from Kemer with hotel pickup and drop-off, it is a long but rewarding day trip, and a private tour can be arranged for families or small groups.

Pamukkale Programme Early in the morning you are collected from your hotel in Kemer and driven inland to Pamukkale, the Cotton Castle, a place with no equal in the world and a must-see on any Turkey itinerary. Hot springs rising from a cliff nearly 200 metres high carry dissolved calcium bicarbonate at about 35 degrees Celsius; as the water loses carbon dioxide it deposits limestone, forming mineral formations, petrified waterfalls and terraced basins. The area is listed by UNESCO for both cultural and natural heritage. Above the terraces lies Hierapolis, the spa city created by the Attalid kings of Pergamon. In this open-air museum you pass one of the biggest ancient burial grounds in Anatolia, holding over 1,200 sarcophagi, some as large as a small house. Your guide also shows you the Great Theatre, the Tomb of St. Philip, the Roman Baths, the gymnasium that serves as a museum and the Temple of Apollo. A thermal pool called Cleopatra Pool is within the ancient city; entry is an extra charge and your guide can explain the details. Lunch is served during the day. Afterwards there is free time for Turkish handicrafts such as leather and textiles, onyx, jewellery and Turkish delight, before the long drive back to Kemer and drop-off at your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
