This Phaselis, Olympos and Chimera day tour from Antalya links three of the Lycian coast's best-loved sights in a single afternoon-to-evening excursion, with comfortable hotel or airport pickup and a guide throughout.
The route heads for the Kemer coast, once part of ancient Lycia. At Phaselis, a harbour town founded some 2,700 years ago and famed for its perfume and rosewater trade, you walk the old main street between its small harbours and see the monumental city gate, the agora, the theatre and the Roman baths. Further south you reach Olympos and Cirali, where the remains of a temple associated with Hephaestus, god of fire, sit close to a lovely pebble beach with time reserved for relaxing by the sea. Ulupinar is passed on the way along the same stretch of coast.
The finale is Yanartas, the Chimera flames: a short climb up a stone stairway leads to vents in the hillside where natural gas has burned for millennia, the phenomenon that ancient storytellers linked with the fire-breathing Chimera of Homer's Iliad. Available as a regular group excursion or a private daily excursion from Antalya, it is an easy-paced day trip suited to all ages and fitness levels, ideal if you want history, scenery and swimming time in one programme.

Phaselis Olympos Programme Your day begins in the early afternoon with pickup from your hotel or from Antalya airport, followed by a drive west along the coast to the Kemer region, a historic corner of ancient Lycia. Phaselis and Olympos, two famous Lycian cities, lie within a short distance of one another. Your guide leads you through the ruins of Phaselis, a port city founded roughly 2,700 years ago and known in antiquity for rosewater and perfume. You stroll the former main street toward its busy harbours and see the tall city gate, the old marketplace, the theatre and the Roman baths. The route continues along the coast past Ulupinar to Olympos and Cirali, where you see the ruins linked to the temple of Hephaestus, the ancient god of fire, and have free time to relax or swim on the beach. As evening approaches you travel to Yanartas, the Chimera, and climb a rock stairway to the vents where flames burst out of the ground, the natural wonder behind the myth of the fire-breathing Chimera in Homer's Iliad. The programme ends with the transfer back to your hotel or to Antalya airport.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
