This daily Cesme tour from Aydin takes you to the far western tip of the Aegean coast, where the Cesme peninsula reaches out towards the Greek islands. In one relaxed day tour you explore the cobbled lanes of Alacati, stroll through the centre of Cesme, step inside its Ottoman castle and finish along the stylish waterfront marina, all with a professional English-speaking guide.
Cesme lies roughly 80 kilometres west of Izmir and has long been known as a seaside resort and thermal spa town. Its castle was raised during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II to guard the harbour facing the nearby Greek islands; its thick walls and towers still frame the old port and make a fine viewpoint over the bay. Just a few kilometres inland, Alacati was once a village of vineyards and windmills. Steady winds later made it a favourite of windsurfers, and today its restored Greek-era stone houses, painted wooden shutters and carefully designed shops and restaurants have turned it into one of the most charming small towns in Turkey.
This daily excursion suits travellers who prefer an easy pace, as walking is light and the day mixes guided commentary with time to browse on your own. Entrance fees for the sites in the programme are covered, while lunch and any extras are at your own expense, so you are free to choose a cafe in Alacati or a seafood spot by the marina. Bring comfortable shoes, sun protection and a light layer for the breezy peninsula. Return to Aydin is planned for the late afternoon, making this Cesme day trip a pleasant way to see the Izmir coast without changing hotels.

Alacati & Cesme Programme Your day begins with a pickup from your hotel in Aydin, after which you travel west in a comfortable air-conditioned coach towards the Cesme peninsula. The first stop is the centre of Alacati, where your guide introduces the history of this former wine-growing village and explains how its windmills, stone houses and steady breezes shaped its character. You then have free time to wander the narrow cobbled lanes, admire the blue and green shutters, browse the boutiques or sit down for a coffee. Next, the tour continues to Cesme town centre, a lively area full of small shops. From here you walk with your guide to Cesme Castle, the 15th-century fortress built during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II, and learn about its role in protecting the harbour. The walk then leads down to Cesme Marina, where well-designed restaurants and stores line the waterfront and you can enjoy the sea views. Lunch is not included, so you can choose where and what to eat during the day. Between about 17:00 and 18:00 the group sets off back towards Aydin, and you are dropped off at your hotel in the evening.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
