Highlights of the 4-Day Red Stag Hunting Package in Ankara

This short but focused hunting programme takes you into the wooded hills west of Ankara in pursuit of the Anatolian red stag, known scientifically as Cervus elaphus maral and often called the Mid-eastern red stag. It is a powerful animal, in many cases a match for its European relative or even heavier: mature stags reach a body weight of roughly 300 to 350 kg, and their antlers can weigh between 11 and 14 kg. In zones where hunting has been limited for years, strong old stags can be found, and they are taken strictly within the regulations set by the authorities.

Your base is the historic district of Beypazarı, where you stay for three nights. From there, two full hunting days lead you into Tekke Mountain National Park, where you hunt either on a drive or by stalking, depending on conditions and the arrangement made for your group. A game ranger and guide accompany you throughout, and the necessary game permissions are arranged for you in advance. Each hunting day starts with breakfast at the hotel and includes a packed lunch in the field, so you can stay out as long as the hunt requires before returning to Beypazarı in the evening.

The season for red stag generally runs from September to February, varying slightly from region to region, so it is worth planning your dates early.
