Highlights of the 5-Day Corum City, Cooking and Hamam Tour

Corum is a provincial city of north-central Anatolia, counted within the Black Sea region, and it sits at the heart of the land where the Hittites once ruled. This five-day programme lets you discover it slowly: one guided day of history, one day in the kitchen, one day devoted to the ritual of the Turkish bath, and plenty of unstructured time in between. You fly in and out through Amasya Merzifon Airport, with both transfers arranged, and stay four nights in a hotel in Corum, so you unpack only once.

The city tour begins at the Grand Mosque, a 13th-century foundation that ranks among the oldest mosques in Corum, and continues to the Clock Tower that marks the centre of town. At the Corum Museum, display halls present objects excavated at Alacahoyuk, Bogazkoy-Hattusa, Pazarli and Kussaray, giving a clear picture of the Bronze Age and Hittite cultures that flourished in the province. The afternoon is free for exploring the centre on your own.

On the third day a professional cook welcomes you to a local restaurant for a hands-on lesson in Corum cuisine. Together you prepare lamb tandoori, Keskek and Sikma (spun) baklava, and then enjoy them as your lunch before spending the afternoon shopping in town. The fourth morning takes you to a hamam, where the steam and warm marble show why the Turkish bath remains part of everyday life across the country; the timing is set around your wishes and the bath's opening hours. The remaining hours are free, and on day five you are driven back to the airport for your flight home.

Your full program, day by day — click a day to see every stop.

Day 1 Arrival - Corum ▾

After landing at Amasya Merzifon Airport you are met and driven to your hotel in Corum. Following check-in the day is entirely your own, whether you prefer a short walk to get your first impressions of the city or an evening of rest after travelling. No sightseeing is scheduled today, so you can settle in comfortably before the guided programme starts. Overnight in Corum.

Day 2 Corum 🍽 Breakfast ▾

After breakfast your guide picks you up for a tour of the city. You begin at the Grand Mosque, built in the 13th century and one of the oldest places of worship in Corum. From there you walk to the Clock Tower in the city centre and then visit the Corum Museum, whose galleries hold finds from the excavations at Alacahoyuk, Bogazkoy-Hattusa, Pazarli and Kussaray. After the museum you have free time in the centre before being driven back to your hotel.

Day 3 Corum 🍽 Breakfast · Lunch ▾

Following breakfast you are collected and taken to a local restaurant for a professional cooking lesson. Your teacher introduces the flavours of the Corum region and shows you how to cook and taste lamb tandoori, Keskek and Sikma (spun) baklava. The dishes you prepare are served as your lunch. In the afternoon you head into the city centre for free time and shopping, then return to the hotel. Overnight in Corum.

Day 4 Corum 🍽 Breakfast ▾

After breakfast you are picked up for a visit to a hamam, the traditional Turkish bath that is enjoyed in every corner of the country. The exact time is arranged to suit you and the bath's opening hours. Afterwards you continue to the city centre for free time and shopping before going back to your hotel, and the rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Corum.

Day 5 Departure - Corum 🍽 Breakfast ▾

After a final breakfast you can enjoy the morning at your own pace until it is time for your departure transfer. You are then collected from the hotel and taken to Amasya Merzifon Airport for your flight home, bringing five days of history, home cooking and relaxation in Corum to an end.
