Daily Ephesus Tour from Kusadasi – Roman Streets, the Great Theatre and the Temple of Artemis

This daily Ephesus tour from Kusadasi brings you to one of the best-preserved ancient cities of the Mediterranean, only 20 to 30 minutes from the resort. With hotel pick-up and drop-off and a professional English-speaking guide, the day tour explains the Greek and Roman history of Ephesus and its place in early Christianity.

Shore Excursion for Cruise Passengers in Kuşadası

Cruise passengers docking in Kuşadası can book the Ephesus Tour as a convenient Kuşadası shore excursion during their port call. With a private vehicle and guide, the day is timed to your ship’s arrival and departure, so you can enjoy the sights without worrying about the all-aboard deadline. Tell us how many hours your ship stays in port and we will confirm that the full programme fits comfortably. Just tell us the ship and the day it calls at Kuşadası — we take care of the rest.

Day Trip to Kuşadası from the Greek Islands (Samos and Patmos)

The Ephesus Tour is also arranged for visitors coming over from Samos or Patmos for the day. Catch the early ferry to Kuşadası (from Samos the ferry takes 45 minutes; from Patmos the ferry takes about 3 hours) and you will be back on the island the same evening. Our team welcomes you at the Kuşadası ferry port and makes sure the day ends in time for your return crossing. For longer itineraries we check the ferry timetable first and confirm that the full programme fits your day. Please bring your passport and check the Turkish entry requirements for your nationality before travelling.

Ephesus was one of the great cities of the Roman East. The Library of Celsus, raised in honour of the senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, was the third-largest library of antiquity. The Great Theatre hosted plays, gladiator contests and public assemblies, and its acoustics still impress today. Marble Street, lined with columns and shop fronts, connected the city's monuments, while the Temple of Hadrian shows finely carved reliefs from Roman mythology. The Agora was the commercial heart of the city, and the baths reveal how Romans relaxed and socialised.

The Ephesus day trip also includes the Temple of Artemis, listed among the ancient world's seven wonders, where a single rebuilt column now marks the spot, and the House of the Virgin Mary, a chapel venerated by Christians and Muslims alike. Please note that entrance tickets and meals are not part of this daily excursion. Wear comfortable shoes and a hat, as most of the visit is on foot over uneven stone.

Tour Programme ▾

Ephesus Ancient City Programme Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel in Kusadasi and, after a short drive of around half an hour, you arrive at the ancient city of Ephesus. The walk follows the main street of the city past a long series of monuments: the Odeon, a small roofed theatre, and the Bouleuterion where the city council gathered, then Marble Street, the richly decorated Temple of Hadrian, Trajan's Fountain and the Mosaic Street. You continue through the Agora and the remains of the Roman baths before reaching the facade of the Library of Celsus, the most photographed building of Ephesus and once the third-largest library of the ancient world. Next you stand in the Great Theatre, carved into the hillside, and look down Harbour Street, which once led to the sea. Throughout the visit the guide brings the ruins to life with stories about daily life, trade and faith in Roman Ephesus. The day also takes in the site of the Temple of Artemis, once ranked among the seven wonders of antiquity, and the House of the Virgin Mary on the wooded slopes nearby. Entrance tickets and lunch are paid locally. At the end of the tour you are driven back to your hotel in Kusadasi.
