About Kilitbahir Castle Museum
Kilitbahir Castle was constructed by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror alongside Çimenlik Castle to control sea passage on the Rumeli side of the Çanakkale Strait. Built in the 1460s, the castle features a Yellow Tower added during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent in 1541, and an Inner Tower with seven floors. Following restoration, the castle now houses themed exhibition spaces covering castle history, defense systems, food culture, commerce, worship, and archaeological findings, presented with modern museology techniques.
