This four-day private program is based in the coastal city of Canakkale on the Dardanelles and combines a full day on the World War I battlefields of the Gallipoli Peninsula with a hands-on Turkish cooking lesson. You stay three nights in Canakkale, so there is no hotel change, and an English-speaking guide accompanies every sightseeing day.
The battlefield day starts at Kilitbahir Castle and the Namazgah bastions, where your guide explains the Ottoman-era fortifications guarding the straits. From there the route moves to the southern Seddulbahir front: the Sahindere Hospital Martyrdom, the large Martyrs' Monument, Morto Bay and the French Cemetery, then Ertugrul Bay with the Bastion and Yahya Sergeant Monument.
In the northern sector you reach Anzac Cove, the Ariburnu cliffs and Anzac Cemetery, the Monument of Respect to Mehmetcik, and the Red Ridge area with original Anzac trenches and tunnels. The day continues to the 57th Regiment Martyrdom, Kesikdere and Bombasirti, Cesarettepe with the Mehmet Sergeant Monument, Hill 261, and finally Conkbayiri with the New Zealand Monument and Kemalyeri, Mustafa Kemal's observation point.
On the third day you join a professional cooking lesson at a local restaurant and prepare Canakkale dishes from the menu, including Flap, Metez, Tumbi and a dessert, which you then eat as your lunch. The afternoon is free for shopping in the city centre before you return to the hotel.
The package covers airport transfers at Canakkale Airport on arrival and departure, three nights of hotel accommodation with three open buffet breakfasts, one lunch, transport in an air-conditioned non-smoking vehicle and all entrance fees mentioned in the itinerary.
