The hamam tradition in Turkey blends Turkish customs with older Roman and Byzantine bathing practice. After hotel pickup, you will be taken to a traditional historical Turkish bath in Canakkale. Upon arrival, staff provide a private cubicle to change into a waist cloth before you enter the sicaklik (hot room) to loosen your muscles. Attendants (tellak for men, natir for women) use traditional Turkish soap and a specialized scrubbing cloth to cleanse and exfoliate your skin. Afterward, transition to the sogukluk (cold room) to relax wrapped in towels; you can order tea or other drinks, and a massage is available at extra cost.
