My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
This daily Pergamon tour from Bergama takes you up to one of the most dramatic ancient sites in Turkey, the Acropolis of Pergamon, crowning a conical hill about 335 metres above the plain. With hotel pick-up, a cable car ride, a guided walk through the ruins and lunch included, it is a relaxed day tour for anyone staying in town.
Pergamon lies about 25 kilometres inland from the Aegean, above the Bakircay valley, known in antiquity as the Caicus, which linked it to the coast. It flourished in the Hellenistic age as the capital of the Attalid dynasty and later became the first capital of the Roman province of Asia before Ephesus took that role. Its library was among the greatest of the ancient world, and the city is also remembered as the birthplace of Galen, whose medical teaching shaped European medicine until the Renaissance. In early Christian times Pergamon was home to one of the Seven Churches of Revelation.
As a Pergamon day trip, the daily excursion combines history with sweeping views, and the return to Bergama is usually between 17:00 and 18:00. After the visit, an optional stop at an onyx and jewellery workshop shows traditional Turkish crafts. If the cable car is not running, the Acropolis is reached by taxi or bus instead. Wear sturdy shoes and bring sun protection.

Pergamon Acropolis Programme The tour begins when you are collected at your Bergama hotel, and your English-speaking guide introduces the story of Pergamon on the short drive to the site. A cable car carries you up the steep slope to the Acropolis, where the ruins spread across terraces high above the modern town. On foot you visit the remains of the renowned library, the royal palace, the foundations of the Altar of Zeus and the entrance gateway of the Temple of Athena, then reach the theatre terrace, where the seating plunges down the hillside at a striking angle. Along the way the guide explains how the Attalid kings turned the city into a centre of art and learning, how it became the first Roman capital of the province of Asia, and why it is linked with the physician Galen and the Seven Churches of Revelation. Lunch is included during the day. After the cultural visit, there is a stop at an onyx and jewellery shop where you can browse traditional Turkish items without any obligation to buy. Between about 17:00 and 18:00 you are driven back and dropped off at your hotel in Bergama. Should the cable car be closed, transport to the Acropolis is by taxi or bus.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
