My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
This daily Assos and Behramkale tour from Bergama heads north from ancient Pergamon to one of the most beautifully placed ruins on the Aegean. Above the stone village of Behramkale you explore the acropolis of Assos and its Temple of Athena, then descend toward the sea for a swim at Kadirga Bay and finish in the old village of Yesilyurt. It is a varied day tour that combines archaeology, village life and coastal scenery.
Assos was founded by Aeolian Greeks and grew into a prosperous city on a volcanic hill facing the island of Lesbos. Its fortification walls are among the best preserved of the ancient Greek world, admired for the quality of their masonry. The Doric Temple of Athena, built around the 6th century BC, crowns the summit and commands a sweeping view of the sea. The philosopher Aristotle lived here for about three years in the 340s BC and taught at a school of philosophy. On the slope sit the Hudavendigar Mosque, a small 14th-century Ottoman building, and the terraces of the agora, council house and theatre.
From above you also look down on the restored stone harbour of Assos. Kadirga Bay offers a pebble beach for a swim, and Yesilyurt charms with cobbled lanes and views across the Gulf of Edremit. This daily excursion returns to Bergama in the evening. Lunch is not included; bring swimwear, comfortable shoes and sun protection.

Assos, Behramkale & Yesilyurt Programme After pickup from your hotel in Bergama, you drive north toward the Biga Peninsula and the village of Behramkale. Passing its medieval-looking stone houses, you climb to the acropolis of Assos, enclosed by a 3 km ring of walls that dominate both land and sea. At the summit your guide shows you the Temple of Athena, then the agora on the southern slope, the Bouleuterion where the city council met, the gymnasium, the stoa and the horseshoe-shaped Greek theatre. You also hear the story of Aristotle, who founded a school of philosophy here between 347 and 344 BC, and visit the Hudavendigar Mosque from the era of Murad I. Before leaving, you enjoy a panoramic view over the carefully restored ancient port. The group then continues to Kadirga Bay for a swim and a meal break at your own expense, followed by a stroll through the stone lanes of Yesilyurt, a former Greek village with sweeping views of the gulf. Between 18:00 and 19:00 you set off back to Bergama for drop-off at your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
