From Samsun
Discover the history, legends and lively seafront of Samsun on this daily Samsun city tour, a private full-day excursion that reveals why this Black Sea port is known as the place where modern Turkey began. With your own guide and air-conditioned vehicle you trace the city from the ancient heights of Amisos Hill to the symbolic Bandırma Ferry, weaving Hittite, Hellenistic, Roman and Republican stories into one memorable day. This private Samsun day trip is the easiest way to understand the city's seven-thousand-year past in comfort.
Samsun is the largest city on Turkey's Black Sea coast, and its story stretches far beyond its modern skyline. Your tour climbs to Amisos Hill, where the cable car lifts you to sweeping views of the sea and the green Canik mountains, before descending to the long waterfront park with its cafes, marina and the famous Atatürk Monument. Along the way your guide recounts how the ancient colony of Amisos grew into a Pontic stronghold, how the Amazons were said to have ruled these shores, and how the family grave chambers of the King Tombs, uncovered in 1995, opened a window onto the city's deep past.
Beyond the centre, the Samsun city tour reaches into the fertile Bafra plain, where the Hellenistic walls of Asarkale and nearby rock tombs overlook the Altınkaya Dam, and the İkiztepe mounds preserve more than seven thousand years of settlement in the Kızılırmak basin. History lovers can also trace the Bronze Age Hittite sanctuary of Nerik, associated with the storm god. A relaxed local lunch — perhaps the celebrated Samsun pide — is included, and after a day of sea views, museums and legends you are returned to your hotel in the early evening.

Samsun City Tour Programme You are collected from your hotel in Samsun at around 8:30 in the morning and begin at Amisos Hill, riding the cable car to the panoramic terrace above the Black Sea for your first views of the city and coastline. From there you descend to the seafront, walking the promenade past the marina and pausing at the Atatürk Monument before continuing to the Bandırma Ferry Museum, where the restored steamship that carried Atatürk to Samsun in 1919 tells the opening chapter of the Turkish War of Independence. The tour then explores the city's ancient layers — the Amazon Village and the rock-cut King Tombs of İlkadım — before heading out across the Bafra plain to the Hellenistic castle of Asarkale and its rock tombs above the Kızılırmak delta, with time at the İkiztepe mounds and the Hittite site of Nerik for those drawn to prehistory. A local lunch is served during the day. In the late afternoon you return to the city and are dropped back at your hotel, your full-day Samsun experience complete.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
