From Rize
This daily Rize tour explores the Black Sea highlands, from the Guneysu Valley and Arapduzu Waterfall to the Handuzu and Yedicukur plateaus. Lunch and an English-speaking guide are included, and the route also climbs to the Cagrankaya and Egzar plateaus. Rize is a land of year-round rain and endless tea gardens, which keeps its slopes a vivid green, and from the high plateaus you look down on the deep blue of the Black Sea on one side and on tea-covered hills on the others. The day introduces you to the yayla culture of the region, where families still move up to summer houses in the mountains.
The adventure starts in the Guneysu Valley with an 800-metre nature trail that winds through the forest and crosses wooden suspension bridges to the Arapduzu Waterfall. Higher up, the Cagrankaya Plateau sits at around 2,600 metres, often above a sea of clouds; from its natural viewing terrace your shouts echo across the valley and you can drink ice-cold spring water. You then walk across the Yedicukur Plateau, on the slopes of Demirdagi, to a traditional plateau house where lunch is served and tea is poured, and chat with local people about life in the highlands and around the Handuzu Plateau.
In the afternoon the route continues to the meadows of the Egzar Plateau, passing wild bilberry bushes on the way, where the group forms a ring for the horon, the energetic folk dance of the Black Sea, sings local songs and enjoys the views over the valley before the drive back. This day tour from Rize includes hotel pick-up and drop-off and air-conditioned transport, and with a choice of vegetarian, halal or meat lunch it is a relaxed daily excursion from Rize for nature lovers, walkers and photographers, available as a group or private tour.

Rize Plateaus Programme After pick-up from your hotel in Rize, the vehicle heads inland to the Guneysu Valley, where the walking part of the day begins. An 800-metre trail leads through dense greenery and over wooden suspension bridges to the Arapduzu Waterfall, a refreshing first stop for photographs. The road then climbs steeply into the mountains, and at about 2,600 metres the Cagrankaya Plateau welcomes you with the sensation of standing above the clouds. From its natural viewing terrace you can call out and hear your voice echo back across the valley while taking a break with ice-cold spring water. Next you walk across the Yedicukur Plateau, which lies at the centre of the highland pastures on the skirts of Demirdagi, to a traditional plateau house. Lunch is served here with a choice of vegetarian, halal or meat dishes, followed by tea and a chance to talk with local people about the Yedicukur, Handuzu and neighbouring plateaus. In the afternoon you continue to the Egzar Plateau, noticing the wild bilberry bushes along the way. In the meadows the group forms a circle for the horon, the traditional folk dance of the region, sings folk songs and relaxes while overlooking the valley. Finally you are driven back to Rize and dropped off at your hotel.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
