From Rize
This guided day tour from Rize blends the city's history and famous tea culture with a high-mountain lake walk across the border in Artvin, with hotel transfers and lunch included. It is a relaxed full-day excursion for anyone who wants to see both the green slopes above the Black Sea coast and the forested highlands that make this corner of Turkey so special.
The morning starts in Rize itself. At Rize Castle, a fortress whose origins reach back to the Byzantine era, you climb up for a wide view over the rooftops, the harbour and the surrounding mountains. The Ziraat Botanical Tea Garden follows, a peaceful terraced park among tea bushes where you learn how the region's renowned black tea is grown and processed and can sip a glass while enjoying the scenery and the local flora.
From the coast the road heads east into the mountains. Before lunch you stop at the Cankurtaran Pass for photographs of deep valleys and layered ridges, then continue to Borçka Karagöl, a natural lake set at about 1,480 metres in a nature park of spruce and beech forest. A gentle walk of roughly 45 minutes leads along the lakeshore, followed by free time for pictures and simply enjoying the quiet. During the day you can also try regional dishes such as mıhlama, a rich cornmeal and cheese speciality, or fresh trout. In the late afternoon you are driven back to your hotel in Rize, making this Black Sea daily excursion an easy way to combine culture and nature in one day.

Rize City Tour Programme Your guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Rize in the morning. The first visit is Rize Castle, a fortress dating back to the Byzantine period; from the upper walls you look out over the city, the Black Sea and the steep green mountains that rise behind the coast. We then continue to the Ziraat Botanical Tea Garden, a landscaped park set among tea terraces, where you hear how tea came to the region, how the leaves are picked and processed, and why Rize tea has its distinctive taste. There is time to relax with a glass of tea and walk among the local plants and flowers. Leaving the city, we drive east towards Artvin and climb into the mountains. Before lunch we pause at the Cankurtaran Pass to photograph the dramatic valleys and forested ridges. After lunch at a local restaurant, where regional specialities such as mıhlama and trout are often on the menu, we reach Borçka Karagöl, a mountain lake lying at around 1,480 metres within a nature park. Together with your guide you walk for about 45 minutes along the shore path through spruce and beech forest, after which you have free time for photographs and to enjoy the calm reflections on the water. In the late afternoon we start the return journey and drop you back at your hotel in Rize.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
