My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
Joining this daily Kayakoy ghost town and Faralya tour from Dalyan is a simple way to swap the riverside town for a day of history and coastline around Fethiye. It is a relaxed, fully guided day tour in English, with pickup from your Dalyan hotel, a comfortable coach and drop-off at the end of the day. Entrance fees for the visits are covered; meals are not part of the package, so budget for lunch along the way.
The first half of this Kayakoy day trip is all about the ghost town. Settlers from the Dodecanese islands arrived in the 18th century and named their town Levissi; over the following generations it grew into a busy community. When about 6,000 Greek residents were obliged to leave under the 1923 exchange agreement between Greece and Turkey, the houses were never fully reoccupied. Walking the cobbled paths between empty walls and hillside chapels, with your guide filling in the background, is a moving and highly photogenic experience. Historians still debate whether the ancient site beside it is Karmylassos or another Lycian settlement.
The second stop is Faralya, high above the sea near Fethiye, where green slopes fall toward the cove known locally as Butterfly Valley. Its reputation has soared in recent years, and you get about two hours to enjoy the view and take a dip if you wish.
Good to know: this daily excursion lasts around six hours. Wear sturdy footwear for the uneven ground in Kayakoy and pack swimwear, a towel and sunscreen for Faralya.

Kayakoy & Faralya Programme The day starts with pickup from your hotel in Dalyan, after which you travel towards Fethiye and the hillside village of Kayakoy. Your first stop is the ghost town, a maze of abandoned stone houses about 7 km from Fethiye, near the remains of an ancient Lycian settlement often linked to Karmylassos. As you wander the lanes, your guide tells the story of Levissi, founded by Greek settlers from the Dodecanese in the 18th century, which grew to some 3,500 homes and was home to around 6,000 people when the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey forced them to leave. Today it is counted by National Geographic among the world's top ten ghost towns. Next the tour continues to Faralya, the green coastal valley Turkish people call Butterfly Valley, where you have about two hours to enjoy the scenery and, if you wish, swim in the sea. At the end of the day the coach brings you back to your hotel in Dalyan.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
