The daily Cappadocia photo safari is designed for anyone who travels with a camera, from complete beginners to seasoned photographers. Starting from Cappadocia with an early hotel pickup in the Goreme, Urgup or Avanos area, this guided daily photo tour brings you to the right places at the right moment, beginning with sunrise over one of the most unusual landscapes on earth.
Cappadocia's scenery was born from ancient eruptions that covered the plateau in thick layers of ash. Over millions of years this soft tuff was carved by wind and water into cones, pillars and the famous fairy chimneys, with colours changing from cream to rose depending on the mineral layers. Early communities hollowed out homes, storerooms and chapels in the rock, and many of these churches still preserve frescoes painted centuries ago, offering detailed subjects for close-up photography.
Morning is the best time for this daily excursion: the low sun brings out the texture of the rock, and on suitable days the sky fills with balloons. Guests who wish to shoot from above can add a balloon flight as an option. The walking route through the valleys is chosen on the day according to the weather, and your English-speaking guide helps with viewpoints and composition so you return with images you are proud of.

Sunrise & Valleys Photo Safari Programme The day starts before dawn, when your guide collects you from your hotel in the Avanos, Goreme or Urgup area and drives you to a viewpoint to watch the sun rise over Cappadocia. This first hour of soft, golden light is perfect for wide landscape shots. Guests who prefer to photograph the region from the air can choose an optional hot air balloon flight at this time. Later, depending on the weather, the group sets off on foot through the valleys, where each turn reveals a new shape of rock, from slender pinnacles to rippled cliff faces, giving you plenty of chances to practise composition and capture natural moments. Along the way you visit old churches carved into the rock, whose antique wall paintings make striking detail images. Your guide shares tips on angles and light throughout. At the end of the safari the photos taken during the tour are copied onto a CD/DVD for you, and you are driven back to your hotel.
