This daily Cappadocia grape harvest tour is a seasonal day tour that follows grapes from the vine to the cauldron. Running only from September to mid-October, it takes you by jeep into local vineyards to pick fruit, then to a village where women boil the juice down into pekmez, the thick grape molasses found on every Anatolian breakfast table.
Cappadocia's volcanic soil has supported vines since antiquity, and grapes remain one of the region's most important crops. Pekmez is made by crushing the fruit, filtering the juice and simmering it for hours until it thickens into a dark, naturally sweet syrup. It is used in many desserts, eaten mixed with tahini at breakfast, and is still trusted locally as a winter remedy against colds. In many villages the work is shared, with neighbours gathering around open fires to stir the vats together.
Your guide answers questions not only about pekmez but about Cappadocia and Turkish daily life in general, and the tour finishes at around 16:00 with a return to your hotel or the meeting point. This daily excursion is a rare chance to join a living rural tradition, and a rewarding Cappadocia day trip from Cappadocia hotels for families, food lovers and photographers who visit during harvest time.

Grape Harvest & Pekmez Programme In the morning you are picked up from your hotel or the tour meeting point and set off on the grape harvest programme with your English-speaking guide. The first part of the day is spent in the vineyards: you travel to the local fields by jeep and join in picking grapes, learning how the harvest is organised and which varieties grow in Cappadocia's volcanic soil. Back in the village you watch local women turn the fresh juice into pekmez, boiling it slowly in vast vats over the fire and stirring until it becomes a rich, dark molasses. Your guide explains each step, from pressing and filtering to the final thickening, and shares how pekmez is used in Turkish desserts, at breakfast with tahini and as a traditional remedy for colds and flu. Lunch is a delicious organic meal prepared with produce picked fresh from the garden. Throughout the day there is time to ask questions about Cappadocia and Turkish rural life. The tour wraps up around 16:00, when you are taken back to your hotel or the meeting point. Please note that this experience operates only during the grape harvest, from September through mid-October.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
