This daily Ayvalik city tour is a relaxed, fully guided day tour that reveals the North Aegean town of Ayvalik, its stone streets, former Greek churches and the island scenery of Cunda. Starting with a pickup from your hotel in Ayvalik, this daily excursion combines panoramic viewpoints, living history and time to wander at your own pace.
Guests staying on Lesbos can enjoy the Ayvalik City Tour as a day trip from the Greek islands to Turkey — from Lesbos the ferry takes about 90 minutes, so the excursion can be planned between the morning and evening sailings. Pickup is at the Ayvalık ferry terminal, and the tour is timed so you can catch the return ferry comfortably. For longer itineraries we check the ferry timetable first and confirm that the full programme fits your day. Please bring your passport and check the Turkish entry requirements for your nationality before travelling.
Ayvalik lies on the northern Aegean coast in Balikesir Province, facing a scatter of small islands and, across the water, the Greek island of Lesbos. The day opens on Paradise Hill, where your guide explains how the town and its olive-growing hinterland developed. Cunda, also called Alibey Island, is joined to the mainland by a causeway; its Taksiyarhis Church, a nineteenth-century Orthodox church, now serves as a museum and remains the island's most recognisable building.
Back in the centre you will see how Ayvalik's past is written into its architecture: the Saatli and Cinarli mosques were once Orthodox churches, while the Ayazma (Phaneromeni) Church still recalls the town's earlier Greek community. Kucukkoy Square leads on to Seytan Sofrasi, a volcanic hilltop famous for its sunset views over the archipelago. An Ayvalik day trip from Ayvalik hotels is easy and unhurried; entrance fees for the listed sites are included, while lunch is at your own expense, so bring some cash for food and shopping on Cunda.

Ayvalik, Cunda Island & Seytan Sofrasi Programme Your guide and driver collect you from your hotel in Ayvalik and the day begins with a drive up to Cennet Tepesi, known in English as Paradise Hill. From this high point your guide gives an overview of the bay, the islands and the layout of the town below. The route then crosses to Cunda Island, where a general tour leads through its old streets and introduces the local stone architecture before reaching the Taksiyarhis Church Museum, standing here for well over a century. Afterwards there is free time on the island to shop, stroll by the harbour or have lunch at your own expense. Rejoining the vehicle, you return to the centre of Ayvalik to complete the town tour with the Saatli Mosque, the Cinarli Mosque and the Ayazma (Phaneromeni) Church. The next stop is Kucukkoy Square in the historic Yenicahori quarter, followed by a drive up to Seytan Sofrasi, where you can enjoy a coffee on the terrace while looking out across the islands. Around 17:00 to 18:00 the tour ends and you are taken back to your hotel in Ayvalik.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
