My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
6 Days Kirikkale & Ankara Tour: Weapons Museum, Anitkabir, Cooking Lesson and Hammam Private Tour
Highlights of the 6-Day Kirikkale & Ankara City and Cuisine Tour
Based for five nights in Kirikkale, the industrial city east of the Turkish capital, this six-day programme pairs a local view of central Anatolia with a full day in Ankara itself. Transfers to and from Ankara Airport, an English-speaking guide on every outing and a single hotel throughout keep things simple, while the daily plan alternates sightseeing with slower days built around food, the hammam and free time in town.
In Kirikkale your guide shows you the Nur Mosque, opened in 2007 in classical Ottoman style with space for roughly ten thousand people and richly tiled inside, then walks you through downtown past the old Ottoman mansions to the Clock Tower. After lunch comes the MKE Weapons Industry Museum, a reminder that the city grew up around Turkish arms production, with arms spanning the 14th century to modern times collected from around the country. The day closes at the Watery Cave, a disused quarry with galleries along a 285-metre walkway, and at the Ceritkale Rock Tombs from the Iron Age, around 1200 BC. The Ankara excursion, roughly a ninety-minute drive away, covers the award-winning Museum of Anatolian Civilizations with its Hittite, Phrygian and Urartian collections, the hilltop Ankara Castle and its old quarter, the Roman Temple of Augustus beside the Haci Bayram Mosque, the Mausoleum of Ataturk and a closing walk in the Kizilay district.
Two days are given to everyday culture. In a local restaurant a professional cooking lesson teaches you Kirikkale dishes such as Tarhana soup from sun-dried tomato and flour, Tuvalak made with bulgur and meat, and the fried meat called Sizgit, which you then eat for lunch before free time in the centre. Later you visit a Turkish bath at a time arranged around your wishes and the opening hours of the bath, with shopping and leisure afterwards. Five breakfasts, three lunches, the listed entrance fees and all transfers are included.

Day 1 Arrival - Kirikkale city tour βΎ
Your tour starts at Ankara Airport, where you are met and taken by air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel in Kirikkale. Once you have your room key, the day is yours: rest after the flight, unpack for the five nights ahead, or set out to discover the neighbourhood around the hotel independently before the guided days begin.
Day 2 Kirikkale city tour - Ankara day tour π½ Breakfast Β· Lunch βΎ
After breakfast the guide picks you up at the hotel. First stop is the Nur Mosque, a 2007 building in classical Ottoman form noted for its tiles and its capacity of around ten thousand worshippers. On foot through the centre you see the traditional Ottoman mansions and the Clock Tower. After lunch you tour the MKE Weapons Industry Museum, where arms from many Turkish cities illustrate developments from the 14th century to today. In the afternoon you walk the 285-metre path through the galleries of the Watery Cave, once a quarry, and visit the Ceritkale Rock Tombs of the Iron Age before heading back to the hotel.
Day 3 Ankara day tour - Kirikkale cooking lesson π½ Breakfast Β· Lunch βΎ
A drive of about an hour and a half brings you to Ankara. At the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, founded in 1921 and arranged in its present form in 1968, finds from the Palaeolithic and Neolithic through the Chalcolithic and later periods tell the story of Anatolia, with outstanding Hittite, Phrygian and Urartian displays. You continue to Ankara Castle, whose origins are thought to reach back to Hittite times and which was used by Romans, Seljuks and Ottomans; inside its walls lies a small quarter of historic houses and a local market. Next are the Temple of Augustus, a Roman monument of 25β20 BC famous for its inscriptions and later turned into a church, and the adjoining Haci Bayram Mosque. After a lunch break you visit Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Ataturk, founder of the Turkish Republic, with its Hall of Honour, Road of Lions, symbolic towers, ceremonial ground and museum, and where the changing of the guard can be seen. A walk in the lively Kizilay district ends the day before the drive back to Kirikkale.
Day 4 Kirikkale cooking lesson - Kirikkale hammam and free time π½ Breakfast Β· Lunch βΎ
After breakfast you are taken to a local restaurant for a professional Turkish cooking lesson featuring the tastes of the Kirikkale region. Together you prepare and try dishes such as Tarhana soup, made from a sun-dried blend of tomato and flour, Tuvalak, a soup-like combination of bulgur and meat, and Sizgit, a local fried meat. Lunch is the result of your efforts. In the afternoon you have free time for shopping in the city centre before the transfer back to your hotel.
Day 5 Kirikkale hammam and free time - Kirikkale β Ankara Airport π½ Breakfast βΎ
After breakfast you are collected for the hammam, scheduled according to your preference and the opening hours of the bath. Bathing in a Turkish bath remains a popular custom across the country, which makes it a rewarding experience to try for yourself. Afterwards you go to the city centre for free time and shopping, then return to the hotel, with the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 6 Kirikkale β Ankara Airport - Ankara π½ Breakfast βΎ
After breakfast you are free until your departure transfer. You are then driven back to Ankara Airport for your flight home, concluding six days that brought together the sights and kitchen of Kirikkale with the great museums and monuments of the Turkish capital.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized β from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
