Museum of ceramics

The Museum of Ceramics (also known as the Tile Museum or Cini Muzesi) is located in Kutahya, Turkey, adjacent to the Ulu Cami mosque. Housed in a restored 14th-century building that originally served as the royal palace kitchens, the museum showcases masterpieces of ceramic and tile work for which the region is renowned. The collection features high-quality pieces spanning centuries, including tiles, plates, vases and figurines, some dating back to the 14th century.

The museum's most notable artifact is the ornate sarcophagus of Yakup II, the last ruler of the Germiyan principality, who died in 1429, which is covered in distinctive turquoise-colored tiles. Visitors can also learn about contemporary artisans preserving ancient Iznik pottery techniques. The venue includes a small shop, and admission is free.
