My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!

The Ionian Cities of the Meander Delta
Priene, Miletus and Didyma once stood on the coast of the Latmian Gulf, which the Meander river slowly filled with silt until the harbours became farmland. Miletus produced the first Greek philosophers - Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes - and the city planner Hippodamus, whose grid layout you see in Priene. Didyma was not a city but the sanctuary of Apollo, linked to Miletus by a sacred way, and its oracle was consulted for centuries. Visiting all three together tells the full story of ancient Ionia.
Getting There from Kusadasi
Priene is about 40 minutes south of Kusadasi, Miletus a short drive further across the old Meander delta, and Didyma lies near the coast at Didim. The day combines hill-town ruins, a vast theatre and one of the largest temples of antiquity, with far fewer crowds than at Ephesus.

Tour Programme ▾
Priene, Miletus & Didyma ProgrammeYou are collected from your hotel in Kuşadası in the morning (pick-up from Kuşadası cruise port is possible on request). The first stop is Priene, an Ionian city laid out on terraces at the foot of Mount Mykale, famous for its grid-plan streets, the columns of the Temple of Athena, the well-preserved bouleuterion (council house) and the small theatre with its front-row marble seats. Your guide explains how the city moved twice as the Meander river silted up the coast.Next comes Miletus, the home of the philosopher Thales and once one of the greatest ports of the Greek world, where the huge theatre still dominates the plain and the Baths of Faustina recall the Roman era. After lunch at a local restaurant you continue to Didyma to see the Temple of Apollo, one of the largest temples of antiquity, with its towering columns, the oracle's inner court and the famous Medusa head. What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
