This 3-day tour from Istanbul flies you to the Aegean coast to explore Ephesus, Pamukkale and the Ionian cities of Priene, Didyma and Miletus, then returns you to your Istanbul hotel – an efficient way to see western Turkey's greatest ancient sites in a short break. Early on the first morning you are collected from your hotel in Istanbul for the short flight to Izmir, where a local guide is waiting. The day starts at the site of the Temple of Artemis, once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, followed by the remarkably preserved Greco-Roman city of Ephesus. After lunch you visit the House of the Virgin Mary, revered by Christians and Muslims alike as the place where Mary is believed to have spent her final years, and the Isa Bey Mosque, before checking in to your hotel in Kusadasi.
Day two is dedicated to Pamukkale and Hierapolis. Your guide leads you through Hierapolis Ancient City and its Necropolis, one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia with around 1,200 tombs, past the Roman Bath, along the main colonnaded street and through the Domitian and Byzantine gates. You then walk across the shimmering calcium terraces, shaped by warm spring water rich in calcium bicarbonate; a swim in the ancient thermal pool is possible for an extra fee, so pack a swimsuit.
On the last day you explore three Ionian sites: Priene, with its theatre, Temple of Athena, Bouleuterion, Agora and the Altar of Zeus and Cybele; Didyma, home to the colossal Temple of Apollo, once the greatest oracle centre of ancient Anatolia; and Miletus, the former harbour city of the philosopher Thales, who famously predicted a solar eclipse. An evening flight brings you back to Istanbul, where you are met and taken to your hotel. Hotel accommodation in Kusadasi, breakfasts, lunches at local restaurants, guiding, entrance fees and all ground transport are included in this guided Turkey tour package; domestic flights can be booked for you.

At around 05:00 you are picked up from your hotel in Istanbul and taken to the airport for the early flight to Izmir (pickup and flight times vary by hotel and season). On arrival at Izmir Airport at about 08:00 our team greets you with a name sign and drives you to the Ephesus area, where you meet your professional local guide. The first visit is the site of the Temple of Artemis, once counted among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You then explore the ancient city of Ephesus, the best-preserved Greco-Roman city in the world, walking its marble streets past temples, fountains and grand public buildings. After lunch at a local restaurant you continue up the hillside to the House of the Virgin Mary, a holy place for both Christians and Muslims where Mary is believed to have lived her last days. The final stop is the 14th-century Isa Bey Mosque in Selcuk. You are then transferred to your hotel for check-in. Overnight in Kusadasi.
After breakfast at the hotel you are picked up at around 08:00, meet your local guide and drive inland to Pamukkale, admired as much for its unique geology as for its historical remains. The guided tour covers Hierapolis Ancient City and its Necropolis, one of the largest ancient cemeteries in Anatolia with about 1,200 graves, the Roman Bath, the Domitian Gate, the main colonnaded street and the Byzantine Gate. You then step onto the famous calcium terraces, formed over thousands of years by warm spring water at around 35 degrees Celsius that is rich in calcium bicarbonate. Lunch is served at a local restaurant during the day. Swimming in the ancient thermal pool is possible at an extra charge, so bring your swimsuit if you would like to take a dip. At the end of the tour you return to your hotel. Overnight in Kusadasi.
After breakfast you check out and are picked up at around 08:30 for a guided tour of three Ionian cities. First comes Priene, founded in the 2nd millennium BC and later rebuilt on a hillside terrace, where you see the theatre, the Temple of Athena, the Bouleuterion, the Agora and the Altar of Zeus and Cybele. After lunch at a local restaurant you drive to Didyma to stand before the Temple of Apollo, the largest oracle centre of ancient Anatolia, with its forest of towering columns. The last visit is Miletus, once a seaside city and the home of Thales, one of the first astronomers, who is said to have predicted a solar eclipse; the city was destroyed by the Persians in the 5th century BC. At the end of the tour you are taken to the airport for your evening flight to Istanbul, at around 19:30. On arrival in Istanbul you are met and transferred to your hotel. End of our services.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
