Giresun lies on the eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey, between wooded green hills and the sea, and is best known as the heart of the country’s hazelnut region. This short three-day programme is designed for travellers who want to see the highlights of Giresun and neighbouring Ordu without a long trip: you fly into Ordu-Giresun Airport, stay two nights in a hotel in Giresun and spend one full day exploring the coast with a professional English-speaking guide.
The sightseeing day follows the shoreline. It begins at Tirebolu Castle, a small medieval fortress on a rocky point above the waves, and continues to Giresun, where Giresun Castle crowns a hill over the city and offers wide views of the harbour and rooftops. If you like, you can also join a boat trip to Giresun Island, the small wooded island just offshore, as an optional extra. In the afternoon you travel to Ordu and ride the cable car up to Boztepe, the hill that looks across the city and the bay.
After free time on Boztepe you walk through the centre of Ordu and along the beach, and on the way back to Giresun you stop at a chocolate factory, a sweet ending to the day. The package includes airport transfers on arrival and departure, two nights of hotel accommodation in Giresun with two buffet breakfasts, the guided Giresun city tour, transport in an air-conditioned non-smoking vehicle, entrance fees for the sites in the itinerary and hotel, tour and transfer taxes. You are met at Ordu-Giresun Airport, which sits on the coast between the two cities, and transferred to your hotel in Giresun. After check-in there are no activities planned, so you are free to rest, enjoy the sea air or take an easy evening walk near the hotel. Your guide will confirm the start time for tomorrow’s coastal tour. Overnight in Giresun.
After breakfast the tour sets off for Tirebolu Castle, the small fortress perched on a rocky headland by the sea. About forty minutes later you reach Giresun, where those who wish can join a boat trip to Giresun Island (optional, extra cost). Next you climb to Giresun Castle to look out over the city and stop for lunch with a view (not included). In the afternoon the road continues to Ordu: a cable car carries you up to Boztepe, followed by free time, a short walk in the city centre and along the beach. On the way back you stop at a chocolate factory, arriving in Giresun around 8 p.m. Overnight in Giresun.
After breakfast you check out of the hotel and are driven to Ordu-Giresun Airport for your flight home or onward journey. This is the end of our services.
