My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
The daily Sagalassos and Salda Lake tour from Manavgat takes you inland to the Lakes Region of Burdur, combining one of the best-preserved mountain cities of Anatolia with a turquoise lake often compared to the surface of Mars. This guided day tour is ideal for travellers who want history and striking natural scenery in a single outing.
Sagalassos lies on the slopes of the Western Taurus near the town of Aglasun, so high that on some days the ruins seem to float above the clouds. It flourished as a city of ancient Pisidia and reached its peak under Roman rule, before earthquakes eventually led to its abandonment. Because its stones were never carried off for later buildings, archaeologists have been able to restore fountains, temples and public squares with their own original blocks, which gives the city a rare sense of completeness.
After the ancient city, this daily excursion continues to Salda Lake. Its brilliant colour comes from fine mineral sediments, and its pale, crystalline shoreline has drawn comparisons with the Martian landscape, making it one of the most photographed natural sights in the region and a fitting finale to the Sagalassos day trip.
Practical notes: return transfers to your hotel in Manavgat, an English-speaking guide and entrance fees in the itinerary are included; lunch is not. Expect a long road day, wear comfortable shoes for the hillside site and bring a jacket, as temperatures at altitude are cooler than on the coast.

Sagalassos & Salda Lake Programme After a morning pick-up from your hotel in Manavgat, the coach heads north, leaving the Mediterranean coast and climbing through the Taurus Mountains towards the province of Burdur. The first major stop is Sagalassos Ancient City, perched at roughly 1,700 metres, where clouds often drift around the surrounding peaks. With your English-speaking guide you walk through a remarkably intact ancient townscape, learning how people have lived in this mountain setting for around 12,000 years and how its monumental buildings survived with nearly all of their original stones still in place. Once the visit is complete, the journey continues to Salda Lake, a crater lake whose depth reaches about 184 metres. Here you have time to admire the extraordinary blue and turquoise shades of the water and to walk along the bright, mineral-rich shore whose unusual texture recalls the surface of Mars, taking as many photographs as you like. Lunch is not included, so you can buy a meal locally during the day. Later the coach sets off back towards the coast and drops you at your hotel in Manavgat.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
