This daily Bursa tour from Istanbul takes you to the city where the Ottoman story truly began, combining its finest early mosques and silk market with a stroll through the village of Cumalikizik. With hotel pick-up, a licensed English-speaking guide, entrance fees and a traditional lunch arranged, it is a complete day tour for travellers who want to look beyond Istanbul.
Arriving in Istanbul on a cruise ship? The Bursa Tour is one of the shore excursions we regularly arrange for cruise guests calling at the port of Istanbul. Because it runs as a private tour, we plan the timing around your ship: your guide and driver meet you at the cruise terminal, and the programme is adjusted to your all-aboard time. Tell us how many hours your ship stays in port and we will confirm that the full programme fits comfortably. Send us your ship name and the date of your call in Istanbul and we will confirm availability.
Bursa served as the first capital of the Ottoman state in the 14th century, and its monuments show the empire's architecture in its formative years. The Green Mosque, built for Sultan Mehmed I, is admired for its turquoise and green tile work, while the Green Tomb opposite holds the sultan's richly decorated cenotaph. The Grand Mosque, crowned with twenty domes, remains the spiritual heart of the city. Koza Han, built in the 15th century, has been the centre of Bursa's silk trade for over five hundred years and still bustles with merchants around its shaded courtyard.
Cumalikizik, a village around 700 years old on the slopes of Mount Uludag, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing for Bursa and the birth of the Ottoman Empire. Its narrow streets and timber-framed houses make it feel like a living museum, and its stalls offer homemade jams, honey and handcrafts. This daily excursion is a long but rewarding Bursa day trip of roughly 13 to 14 hours, returning by ferry or road. Spring and autumn bring the mildest weather, and note that Cumalikizik's uneven cobbles are not suitable for wheelchairs.

Bursa & Cumalikizik Programme The day starts early with pick-up from your centrally located Istanbul hotel at around 06:30 in an air-conditioned vehicle. Depending on the route, you may cross the Sea of Marmara by ferry towards Yalova, enjoying views of the Istanbul skyline and coastline, before continuing through green countryside to reach Bursa at about 10:30. Your guide first leads you to the Green Mosque and the Green Tomb to admire their remarkable early Ottoman tiles, then to the 14th-century Grand Mosque, the spiritual centre of the city. Around 13:00 you sit down to a traditional Turkish set lunch where Bursa's renowned Iskender kebab takes centre stage. Afterwards you wander through Koza Han and the covered bazaar, one of the oldest and most atmospheric market areas in Turkey. In mid-afternoon you drive to Cumalikizik, the 700-year-old Ottoman village, to walk its cobbled streets among wooden houses and artisan stalls, with free time to taste local jams and honey, browse handcrafts or relax over tea in a village cafe. At about 17:30 you set off back to Istanbul by ferry or by road, arriving at your hotel around 20:00.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
