Zeytinburnu mozaik müzesi
About Zeytinburnu mozaik müzesi
The Zeytinburnu Mosaic Museum is located in Istanbul at the Kazlicesme art centre. An ancient mosaic floor was discovered during restoration work at the site in 2015. The museum's exhibition hall features the floor mosaic displayed under glass, allowing visitors to walk above and view the archaeological remains from overhead. Excavations at the site also uncovered a marble sarcophagus and various ancient artifacts.
The museum offers free admission and provides educational information about mosaic types, their historical uses, and mosaic formation techniques. A cafe and restaurant on the grounds offers seating with views overlooking the Marmara Sea. The site is easily accessible via the Marmaray train line at the Zeytinburnu stop, and parking is available for visitors arriving by car.
