Aviation Museum
About Aviation Museum
The Istanbul Aviation Museum is a military aviation facility located in the Yeşilköy district near the city's old airport. The museum features both indoor and outdoor exhibits displaying around 30 aircraft, helicopters, and related military equipment from various eras of Turkish aviation history. The outdoor section showcases fighters, transport planes, and other aircraft that have served in the Turkish Air Force, while the indoor exhibition area contains historical photographs, pilot uniforms, aviation memorabilia, and artifacts dating from the Ottoman period to more recent times.
The museum is closed Mondays and, according to some accounts, Tuesdays, and admission is affordable. The facility includes a basic cafeteria with outdoor seating in summer and an adjacent gift shop offering aviation-related merchandise. It is easily accessible by public transportation, including the Marmaray train system, and visitors should note that photo identification may be required for entry.
