About Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture

The Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture is housed in a renovated 19th-century warehouse at Galataport, in the Tophane district of Istanbul. The museum features collections of Turkish paintings and sculptures spanning from the Ottoman period through contemporary works, distributed across three floors. Notable artists in the collection include Osman Hamdi Bey and the Russian painter Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, whose seascapes occupy a prominent gallery.

Visitors typically spend two to three hours exploring the museum, which includes a small café with sea views. It generally operates Wednesday through Sunday, with extended hours on Tuesdays and closure on Mondays, and entry may be free with a museum card.
