Atlas1948 - İstanbul Sinema Müzesi
About Atlas1948 - İstanbul Sinema Müzesi
Atlas1948 - Istanbul Sinema Muzesi is housed in the historic Atlas Passage on Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul's Beyoglu district. Originally constructed in 1877 as a winter mansion, the building was later combined with an adjacent three-story block to create its current structure, representing a notable example of late Ottoman-era facade and interior design.
Since the 1930s the building has been central to Istanbul's cultural life, hosting the Atlas Cinema and other entertainment venues. Following restoration work between 2018 and 2020, it now houses the historic Atlas Cinema and the Istanbul Cinema Museum, which opened in 2021 under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, along with shops in the arcade section. A visit typically takes one to two hours, and the venue operates Tuesday through Sunday, closed on Mondays.
