The hinterland of Kusadasi is a landscape most visitors never see. Kusadasi Mountains SUV Safari Programme Pickup from your hotel in Izmir takes place between 08:30 and 09:00, and you are driven to Kusadasi, where you join the rest of the safari group. The off-road adventure starts between 09:30 and 10:00 with a ride to Davutlar village, where a 15-minute break gives you time to look at, taste or buy fresh local produce. From here the 4x4 vehicles leave the asphalt and begin to climb the mountain trails, pausing beside ancient tombs on the way. After roughly an hour of ascent you reach a historic castle perched about 1,000 metres above sea level, with time to explore and take photographs. The route then continues to a tranquil monastery, where a picnic-style lunch is served during a break of around 1.5 hours. In the afternoon the convoy descends through forests and mountain paths with wide views over the sea to Samos, stopping at Zeus Cave so that you can bathe in its mineral- and sulphur-rich spring water. Time permitting, the group may also swim at the national park beach, and the safari finishes at around 18:00 – 18:30 and you are transferred back to your hotel in Izmir.
