This short private tour links two of the most famous ancient sites of western Turkey. It starts in Çanakkale on the Dardanelles, where you stay two nights with breakfast, spends a day at Troy, and then travels south through Pergamon to finish in Kuşadası, ready for Ephesus or the Aegean coast.
Troy needs little introduction: the city of Priam, Hector and Helen, and of the wooden horse. On site you see how archaeologists uncovered nine settlement layers stacked on one mound, from Bronze Age fortifications to Roman buildings, and your guide explains how the story told by Homer relates to what was actually found. The replica horse at the entrance is a favourite photo stop.
Pergamon was one of the great capitals of the Hellenistic world. On its Acropolis stand the remains of a famous library, the Temple of Athena, the terrace of the Altar of Zeus and one of the steepest theatres of antiquity. Below the hill, the Asclepion was a renowned medical centre where treatments included thermal baths, mud, exercise and the interpretation of dreams. A parchment workshop shows how the city's famous writing material is made.
Your arrival day and the afternoon after Troy are free to enjoy Çanakkale's waterfront promenade, its fish restaurants and the views across the strait. Breakfasts, guiding, entrance fees and transfers are included; lunches and dinners are not.

After breakfast, drive to Troy, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998 and the setting of Homer's story of the Trojan War. Start at the replica wooden horse, then walk through the excavated layers of a city that was destroyed and rebuilt on the same mound nine times over some 5,000 years, from the Bronze Age walls and ramps to the Roman odeon, while your guide brings the legend and the archaeology together. Return to Çanakkale for a free afternoon. Overnight in Çanakkale.
Drive south to Bergama, ancient Pergamon. Ride up to the Acropolis to see the library, the Temple of Athena, the site of the Altar of Zeus, the steep Hellenistic theatre and the temple of Dionysus, then visit a workshop where parchment – the writing material named after Pergamon – is still made and painted. After free time for lunch, explore the Asclepion, the great healing sanctuary dedicated to the god Asclepius, with its sacred spring, pools, library and temple, where patients' dreams once guided their treatment. The tour then continues to Kuşadası, where it ends.
