About Tahtakuslar Museum

The Tahtakuşlar Ethnography Museum is located in the village of Tahtakuşlar at the foot of the Kaz Mountains on the Turkish Aegean Coast. This private museum, established by a local citizen with EU support, showcases objects reflecting traditional Turkmen culture and local life. Exhibits include handmade kilims, traditional clothing, copper craftwork, antique kitchenware and weaving looms that demonstrate historic textile techniques, along with a notable mummified sea turtle. The museum also sells local medicinal plants and oils.

The village itself preserves its cultural heritage by restricting modern concrete construction and maintaining Turkmen traditions, with narrow streets winding uphill past teahouses and small hotels. Admission is modestly priced, and the museum sits roughly 10 minutes from Güre, offering visitors an intimate look at regional ethnographic heritage.
