Sehzadeler Museum

The Sehzadeler Museum is housed in a beautifully preserved Ottoman mansion on the waterfront in Amasya, Turkey. The museum tells the story of the Ottoman princes, the sehzadeler, who served in Amasya, historically known as the "City of Princes" where royal candidates were trained before ascending to the throne.

Life-sized wax figures dressed in authentic period clothing and robes portray princes and sultans such as Yildirim Beyazit and Fatih Sultan Mehmet, and interactive screens provide biographical information about the figures on display. The building itself represents fine 15th- and 16th-century Anatolian Turkish architecture, and the presentation is noted for its realistic figures and lively atmosphere. Admission is modestly priced, children enter free, and staff serve as helpful and knowledgeable guides.
