About Güray Müze

Güray Müze is situated in Avanos, Cappadocia, and holds the distinction of being one of the first underground ceramic museums in the world. Located approximately 20 meters beneath the surface, the museum features distinct sections showcasing ancient pottery artifacts, contemporary ceramic works by local artists, and an art gallery. The underground setting provides a cool environment, particularly appreciated during summer heat.

The museum displays a blend of historical pieces and modern artistic creations arranged throughout multiple corridors in a labyrinth-like layout carved into post-volcanic rock. Visitors can observe ceramic artworks, watch demonstrations of traditional painting and pottery-making techniques, and participate in pottery workshops for an additional fee. The facility includes a substantial retail shop offering handmade ceramic products, along with a library, lounge, and café. The museum operates daily and charges an admission fee.
