Gaziantep Atatürk Anı Müzesi

The Gaziantep Ataturk Ani Muzesi is a memorial museum dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey. The museum commemorates Ataturk's visit to Gaziantep on January 26, 1933, when he arrived and was warmly received by the city's residents, who had resisted foreign occupation. During his stay he rested at a teacher's house, examined the city and offered suggestions for its development, and the municipality subsequently granted him honorary citizenship.

The museum serves as both an Ataturk memorial and a repository of the city's War of Independence history. Exhibits include personal items associated with Ataturk, such as the bed where he slept during his visit and dining utensils he used. Beyond these artifacts, the collection features documents from the independence struggle, accounts from people who lived through the war and objects representing Ataturk's post-war reforms. The building's traditional architecture is itself worth seeing, and there is a small gift shop on site.
